Seahawks free safety Earl Thomas to sign with Baltimore Ravens

Minnesota Vikings' Latavius Murray runs against the Philadelphia Eagles during an NFL football game Sunday Oct. 7 2018 in Philadelphia

Thomas' 2018 season ended on September 30 when he broke his left leg.

Thomas, 29, is a perennial All-Pro safety and has been for most of his National Football League career, all of which has been spent with the Seattle Seahawks. He was looking for a lucrative, long-term contract extension and the Ravens were interested after they released Eric Weddle last week.

Schefter is reporting the contract to be worth four years at $55 million, including $32 million fully guaranteed at signing.

Thomas held out of the Seahawks training camp as he attempted to force the Seahawks to giving him a contract extension.

Storm Gareth: Strong winds and heavy rain predicted
The northwest winds will eventually moderate early on Wednesday night, before backing westerly and freshening again overnight. A yellow "be prepared" warning for wind for the whole of Wales is in force from 21:00 GMT Tuesday until 15:00 Wednesday.

The Cowboys were long rumored to have interest in Thomas. Last season, he caught 22 passes for 141 yards. He played just four games in 2019 before suffering a broken leg in a game against Arizona, his second broken leg in three seasons. In 2017, he played in all 16 games with 11 starts and carried 216 times for 842 yards with eight touchdowns as the Vikings advanced to the NFC Championship. It's also thought Thomas and the Seahawks never had significant talks on an extension.

On Tuesday night, it was reported the Browns were "feeling good" about their chances of signing Thomas to a deal. But those reports were quashed early Wednesday morning and news then broke of his signing with the Ravens.

Murray will join Pro Bowl running back Alvin Kamara and could be a candidate to replace Mark Ingram, who became an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

The 29-year-old Thomas was considered the top safety on the free agent market, a six-time Pro Bowler who has been named first-team All-Pro three times.
