Tottenham star Kane expected out until March with ligament damage

Harry Kane Injured at Wembley

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane could reportedly be out for at least a month after suffering an ankle injury during Sunday's loss to Manchester United, according to The Guardian.

Tottenham's recent woes have given Manchester United fans reason to believe again though as they have embarked on a six-match winning run in all competitions since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was confirmed as the interim replacement for Jose Mourinho.

The club said the English forward "is expected to return to training in early March".

Kane was injured after being caught between United defenders Phil Jones and Victor Lindelof while trying to set up a last-minute chance for Tottenham.

Vowing to return as fast as possible, Kane wrote on his Twitter account: "Injuries are part of the game but no one will be working harder to get back fit".

Chris Waddle says the injury to Harry Kane is "devastating" for his former club Tottenham.

A statement from Spurs reads: "Following preliminary assessments, we can confirm that Harry Kane has damaged ligaments in his left ankle, sustained during Sunday's match".

Kane is the co-leader in Premier League goals this season with 14, tied with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mohamed Salah atop the league's scoring chart. On Jan. 24, Spurs will face Chelsea in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semifinal.

With Son Heung-Min now away at the Asian Cup, and the final of that competition taking place on February 1, the injury has come at a bad time for Spurs.

He also looks likely to miss both legs of the north Londoners' Champions League duel with Dortmund, given the second leg in Germany takes place on March 5.
