Angela Ponce makes history at Miss Universe

Despite not being crowned Miss Universe, Spain's Angela Ponce had her own "winning moment" on stage as she was given a standing ovation by an ecstatic crowd in Bangkok on Monday.

Miss Spain, Angela Ponce, is the first transgender contestant at a Miss Universe pageant.

The Miss Universe contest will air on Sunday night, with talk show personality Steve Harvey performing host duties.

Under the new rules, women who compete in the Miss Universe pageant are now only required to be unmarried and without children. Knowing this, she was asked in an interview with Time what it would mean to win, to which she replied, "More than a message to him, it would be a win for human rights".

Google Reveals The Uplifting Word That The World Searched For In 2018
You have the option to click on the featured snippet or request to see more search results related to the query. Meanwhile, the "near me" list shows just how much they have come to rely on online sources to find jobs.

Same goes for Gerard Quizon, who sketched an animated version of Gray reflecting her first walk as Miss Universe and subtly showing the Philippine flag to emphasize "Pinoy pride". As long as I know my intentions were pure, people around me know me - they know that I would never say anything like that deliberately - so I just had to be okay with that and let other people say what they wanna say.

"I only need to be here", she said.

In another interview just a month before the pageant, Gray acknowledged the voice that Ponce represents.

Though she didn't make it to the top 20, the competition honored her with a special segment during Sunday's live show. However, despite her participation Miss World organization didn't accept transgender participation.
