Assad regime shoots down 'hostile target' south of Damascus

Israel denies one of its fighter jets was downed

The news agency reported that the Syrian air force was responding to "continuous attacks" by enemy forces in the country's south, but did not attribute it to any specific source.

The Syrian Flying force triggered its air defenses on Thursday evening to fend off a noticeable strike in Kiswah community, south of resources Damascus, very early records recommended.

However, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a war monitor based in London, said a missile hit a weapon depot believed to contain weapons for the Iranian-backed Hezbollah in the second wave of attack, after the 45-minute first-round attack failed.

Damascus has accused Israel of launching strikes into Syria this week, in what a monitor said were the first such missiles to target the country since Syria's army upgraded its air defence system after the downing of a Russian plane in September.

Israeli officials said Friday it found fragments likely from a Syrian anti-aircraft missile in a field in the Golan Heights.

Israeli military forces were deployed to search the area for exploded or fallen ordnance.

"Reports regarding an [Israeli army] aircraft or an airborne [army] target having been hit are false", it said in an English-language statement.

Military sources told SANA that the incoming projectiles were heading toward the al-Kiswah area.

Your Federal Government will spare no expense. "So thankful to be safe; praying for our state following the natural disaster ". In comparison, the San Andreas fault in California slips about an inch to an inch-and-a-half each year, the USGS says.

For its part, the Israeli military denied any of its assets were hit, but stopped short of denying it had conducted strikes.

Iran and Russian Federation are the government's key allies in the civil war that has raged Syria since 2011, and Moscow's intervention in 2015 dramatically turned the tables against the rebels.

Moscow pinned responsibility for the downing on Israel, saying its fighter jet used the larger Russian one for cover, an allegation Israel disputed.

After the September attack, Russian Federation and Syrian government blamed Israel for the losses and Moscow was quick to equip Damascus with the advanced S-300 air defense missile system.

Speaking after the talks, Russia's Syria negotiator Aleksandr Lavrentyev said the committee was of utmost importance.

Israel has repeatedly targeted military positions in Syria, including Kisweh.

It is not yet clear whether the S-300s were among the air defense systems used in the Thursday night counterattacks.
