Sixers no longer listening to trade offers for McConnell

Brett Brown Markelle Fultz Sixers

The 6-foot-4 combo guard was scheduled to see a shoulder specialist on Monday, and The Athletic reported he has also been bothered by a right wrist injury that has messed with his already problematic shooting.

Fultz was the first overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.

Fultz's agent Raymond Brothers informed the team last week he wouldn't participate in games or practices until cleared by a shoulder specialist, and 76ers general manager Elton Brand said he was "very surprised" the player couldn't get an appointment until this week. McConnell would be taking over a majority of Fultz's minutes as the 76ers backup point guard.

Philadelphia has "stopped listening" to offers for the 26-year-old guard, according to a report from ESPN, which cites unidentified league sources. A decision on Fultz's next steps won't be made until later in the week.

To that end, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported Sunday that Fultz is no longer in the team's plans.

But the quick look at the surroundings showed a flat surface with few if any rocks - just what scientists were hoping for. Well, humanity's latest probe to the Martian surface isn't just interested in rocks and molecules.

The Sixers continue to expect that Fultz will return to the team and reclaim a role off the bench, sources said. He also told ESPN last week that he has not requested a trade from the 76ers on behalf of his client.

He is averaging 8.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 3.1 assists in 19 games this season.

Here they go again - at this point, it seems like the Sixers should just move on from Fultz but it's not going to be that easy.

Fultz began the 2018/19 season as a starter but saw his place taken by J.J. Reddick following the arrival of Jimmy Butler.

Reserve point guard T.J. McConnell is in his fourth National Basketball Association season, all coming with the 76ers.
