Camp Fire finally 100 percent contained after burning for TWO WEEKS

Only a staicase remains of a two story building in Paradise Calif. on November 17. The Camp Fire California's worst and deadliest was declared 100 percent contained Sunday

With the help of steady rain, firefighters have almost contained the devastating Camp Fire blaze that's killed 84 and destroyed thousands of homes in Northern California, but responders are still searching for hundreds of missing people and struggling to identify remains amid muddy ash and falling trees.

According to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, the Camp Fire was able to put under control when firefighters surrounded it after days of rainfall in the Paradise area.

Cal Fire, the state fire authority, said in its latest bulletin that the fire - which broke out on November 8 - was 98 percent contained.

The fire burned down almost 19,000 buildings, a lot of them homes, and displaced thousands of people, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said.

The so-called Camp fire, the deadliest such blaze in California history, started on 8 November.

Starting on November 8, the so-called Camp Fire burned almost 154,000 acres and destroyed almost 14,000 homes.

After burning for over two weeks, killing dozens and destroying thousands of homes, the Northern California fire has been fully contained authorities confirmed on Sunday.

May has warned that MPs have a choice between her deal, leaving the European Union with no deal or Brexit not happening at all. At the same time, he urged the British parliament to back the deal because nothing better will come to the table.

Despite fears of mudslides and debris flow, neither occurred in the burn areas where rain fell. It caused mass destruction and death in the Butte County communities of Paradise, Concow and Magalia.

The fire, which broke out on November 8, is so far known to have killed 87 people and burned almost 14,000 homes.

Rain hit the area last week, helping to contain the fire, but adding to challenges in recovery efforts.

The search for remains came to a temporary standstill in Paradise on Friday after rain and strong winds made fire-weakened trees risky, CNN affiliate KCRA reported. Butte County Sheriff Kory Honea said it was still too early to say when the search would be complete but said the region was being covered as quickly as possible, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Almost 19,000 buildings, majority homes, are gone.

Rains over the last three days helped the firefighters contain the blaze, but they were destructive to homes that have been scorched, and may pose a danger to residents that return home. Most of the victims of the fire identified so far were of retirement age.
