California Wildfires: Malibu residents reflect on Woolsey Fire

Lady Gaga Visits Woolsey Fire Victims, Asks Trump to ‘Show Some Compassion’

While the fire is 35 percent contained, a cause has not been determined.

Hughes is one of the 30-plus officers who lost their homes in the blaze but continued to report for duty to help locate missing people and victims, the Butte County Sheriff's Office said.

More than 300,000 California residents have had to flee their homes. The agency said firefighters had "worked aggressively" to protect structures in the fire's path, and that they've been working to build fire lines to establish control.

The fire has scorched over 6,400 structures to rubble and burned 110,000 acres of land.

"If my dad hadn't have come home from work when he did, I probably wouldn't have gotten out of there, because I wouldn't have known", Bush said.

Many people are still missing, with specialist search teams combing the town of Paradise which was left nearly totally destroyed by flames.

"We have teams - you know, coroner teams - that have to go house to house and vehicle to vehicle", Schuster told ABC. "Firefighters actively fought the fire and worked aggressively".

White House accused of using 'doctored' Jim Acosta video
You shouldn't be working for CNN . "They are not only risky , they are disturbingly un-American ", CNN tweeted after the exchange. Sanders "provided fraudulent accusations and cited an incident that never happened", the United States cable network said.

The bulk of the destruction and loss of life occurred in and around the town of Paradise, where flames reduced most of the buildings to ash and rubble on Thursday night, just hours after the blaze erupted. Further south, fires have reached the beach resort of Malibu, with a "major disaster" now declared across the state.

The declaration provides for federal assistance to aid state firefighting and recovery efforts in the counties of Butte, Ventura and Los Angeles.

What they show: The map above shows the extent of the Woolsey fire in Southern California as of November 11, covering an area of 50 by 25 miles.

Trump had earlier earned the ire of state officials with a claim that "gross mismanagement" of forestry in the state was responsible for the damage.

People have been using social media to share images of their lost animals around the internet, in the hope of finding them.

Over the weekend, the Woolsey Fire engulfed parts of Thousand Oaks, where a Marine Corps veteran shot dead 12 people in a country music bar on Wednesday.
