Khashoggi's body parts transported in suitcases

The official confirmed a report in Turkey's Sabah newspaper that a team of 11 Saudi investigators arrived in Turkey nine days after Mr Khashoggi was killed.

Saudi Arabia had refused Turkey's requests to search the diplomatically-protected consulate until October 17, when they finally allowed it.

Saudi consulate staff tried to dismantle CCTV equipment at their Istanbul compound to help cover up the murder of Jamal Khashoggi, Turkish media have claimed.

Geneva - Saudi Arabia told the United Nations on Monday it would prosecute those responsible for the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi at its Istanbul consulate, as Western states pressed it for a credible investigation.

Trudeau's Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland said that Canada views the Saudi regime's explanations about Khashoggi's death as "not consistent", "not coherent" and "not credible". The country's prosecutor stated that the journalist was killed by "strangulation" and that his body was "cut into pieces" after the murder.

Khashoggi, a permanent US resident who was living in Virginia, was critical of the Saudi government.

Prince Alwaleed was detained a year ago along with dozens of other Saudi businessmen, royals and officials in what officials said was part of a campaign to crack down on corruption.

Saudi Arabia has said Khashoggi was murdered in a rogue operation carried out without the knowledge of the country's leaders.

Saudi Crown Prince's uncle returns to Riyadh after absence
After initially denying Khashoggi had been killed, the Saudi government claimed he died in an unplanned "rogue operation". The two sides discussed a wide range of topics including Israel, Palestine and Saudi Arabia's relations with the US.

In an interview with Jared Kushner, U.S. President Donald Trump's son-in-law and Middle East adviser, and John Bolton, national security adviser, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman called Khashoggi a sympathizer of the Muslim Brotherhood and a unsafe Islamist, however Khashoggi's sons pushed back on this. "I talked about this with the Saudi authorities and I just hope that it will happen soon".

King Salman of Saudi Arabia was due to embark on an unusual tour of his country on Tuesday, as the kingdom's global reputation continued to be buffered by the fallout from the killing of Jamal Khashoggi.

Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said last week the order to murder Khashoggi came from "the highest levels" of the Saudi government, while he did "not believe for a second" that Saudi's King Salman had ordered the crime. He and his brother Abdullah said that their family is unable to mourn the father's death properly.

"Jamal was never a dissident", Salah Khashoggi said.

The other day there was an event held by Saudi Arabia, and I did not participate in the conference and I cancelled the participation.

Ankara has also demanded Riyadh cooperate in finding Khashoggi's body, which Istanbul's chief prosecutor said had been dismembered.

We made it very public.
