Surveillance footage showed the bus veered across the lanes, hit a vehicle, demolished a section of Yangtze River No 2 bridge's barrier and plunged into the river, where the water is about 70 metres [230 feet] deep.

Xinhua News Agency reported a floating crane pulled the wreck out of the river Wednesday night.

According to the China Daily, a female passenger named Liu had missed her stop and asked the driver to stop immediately.

Police examined nearly 2,300 hours of surveillance videos along the bus route to determine the cause of the accident which gripped the nation.

The video shows that they exchange more blows before the driver loses control of the bus, strikes a auto and careens through the four-lane bridge's railing into the Yangtze.

For days after the accident, the No. 22 bus lay at the bottom of the Yangtze River - in waters more than 70 meters (230 feet) deep. The footage shows the fight between the driver and the woman.

It also said that all regulators and government need to present a coordinated front while addressing the current issues. The Economic Affairs Secretary on Wednesday, however, refused to comment anything with respect to it.

After the driver refused to stop, Liu hit the driver's head with her cellphone.

When she struck him again, he abruptly turned the steering wheel left, swerving into oncoming traffic before crashing into the railings on the side of a bridge - screaming can be heard as the video stops.

In response, the driver takes a hand off the steering wheel and grapples with the woman for a couple of seconds.

Authorities ultimately blamed the 42-year-old bus driver for not following safety protocols but found that both the passenger and the driver had broken the law and endangered public safety.

Another video, taken from a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction, shows the bus swerving widely on the bridge and crashing through the barricades before its fatal plunge.
