Hurricane center monitors disturbance in Atlantic

The Tropical Storm Oscar has got upgraded into a Category 1 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 120 kmph. As of 10 p.m., the National Hurricane Center said Oscar was centered some 660 miles southeast of Bermuda and 645 miles northeast of the northern Leeward Islands and moving west at 16 mph. Oscar is still moving toward the west at 16 miles per hour.

Mother Nature has given the U.S. East Coast a bit of a reprieve from worry, some time to catch our collective breaths and continue recovery efforts in Florida's Panhandle after the devastation of Hurricane Michael.

Hurricane Oscar has gained a little strength, but forecasters say the storm is curving away from land over the Atlantic Ocean.
