The couple first started to tell family members they were expecting at Princess Eugenie's wedding at St George's Chapel in Windsor on Friday and it is understood Meghan has already undergone her 12-week scan.

In addition to stops in Australia, the couple's 16-day autumn tour will also include cities in Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand.

"But the duchess was very keen to re-join the duke at the last engagement of the day to greet the people of the island".

It's being reported that the Duchess is exhausted from the hectic tour schedule, which will see the couple attend 76 engagements over 16 days.

The royal couple have both flown to the picturesque setting of Fraser Island, in Queensland, the largest sand island in the world and a world heritage site.

The Duke of Sussex had been attending an event for his Invictus Games in Sydney on Sunday when a woman in the crowd called out, "I hope it's a girl!"
