Amazon could launch as many as eight new devices later this month

Amazon is expected to reveal some of these devices at an event later this month, according to an internal document describing the plans. An unspecified in-car gadget is also planned. But we can also expect an amplifier, a receiver, a subwoofer, and an in-car device, among others.

All of which underscores how the company, pun very much intended, is certainly at home sniffing out opportunities wherever it can to put new Alexa-powered gadgets in the hands of consumers. It is worth adding that some of the OEMs have already launched devices and even cars that support Amazon Alexa voice assistant. The company acquired Ring, a smart doorbell maker that also makes Alexa-compatible devices, earlier this year.

The information comes from CNBC, which reports that Amazon is planning to release various voice-controlled devices allegedly including a subwoofer, amp, microwave oven, and something that will be used within a auto, all of them featuring Alexa.

Amazon is also reported to be working on a secretive home robot. But what Amazon's virtual assistant reportedly lacks in accent comprehension and overall IQ, it now makes up for in "visual style". Sonos, for example, has a similar business model, as it said in its quarterly filing that it relies on "custom installers of home audio systems for a significant portion of our sale". These inclusions are the most likely, with Amazon looking to compete against Sonos' wireless speaker line-up (who already have a wireless amplifier for connecting wired speakers) and the Siri-enabled Apple HomePod. "There are now tens of thousands of developers across more than 150 countries building new devices using the Alexa Voice Service, and the number of Alexa-enabled devices has more than tripled in the past year". Around this time previous year, Amazon revealed the newest members of the Echo family: the Echo Spot and updated Echo speakers.
