Melania Trump Slams 'Cowardly' Trump Administration Official's New York Times Op-Ed

Trump fires back at Bob Woodward book with statements from James Mattis and John Kelly

Donald Trump on Thursday (Sep 6) called on the New York Times to reveal the name of the "coward" who wrote an explosive, anonymous article that has plunged his presidency into its worst crisis yet.

The demand came shortly after Trump published a one-word message on Twitter: "TREASON?"

McMahon isn't the only one to deny that she wrote the article either.

Vice President Mike Pence also denied writing the opinion piece.

Some have taken to dissecting the op-ed in an effort to find who may have written it, but the writer may have accounted for that. "Our office is above such amateur acts", wrote Jarrod Agen, spokesman for Mike Pence.

"But for those who are not true Trump believers, I think it is quite likely that these events will reinforce the Democrats' argument (that) a check on the President is a valid and increasingly urgent necessity for the good of the country".

In a parade of disavowals of the article, Pompeo said on a trip to India that he was not the author, while representatives for Mattis and Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said they were not the authors either.

Conversations with editors at some of the country's most prominent newspapers underscored the unique nature of the decision the Times faced, and the competing factors that any publication would navigate before deciding to publish.

"I come from a place where if you're not in a position to execute the commander's intent, you have a singular option, that is to leave", he said.

The remaining housemates have been informed", a Celebrity Big Brother spokesperson said, adding there would be no further comment. During Friday night's live eviction, a clip was shown of her shaking hands with Ryan in order to draw a line under the incident.

"Are the investigative "journalists" of the New York Times going to investigate themselves - who is the anonymous letter writer?", he tweeted ahead of a rally in Montana.

"It's not mine", Pompeo added, referring to the article.

Coats said in a statement that speculation that he or his principal deputy wrote the piece was "patently false".

Ryan said he isn't anxious about President Donald Trump's public threats or inclinations toward shutting down the government in an effort to secure funding for his border wall.

UN Ambassador Nikki Haley told reporters she was not the author.

"So basically", Times investigative reporter Jodi Kantor observed in a tweet on Wednesday, "Times reporters now must try to unearth the identity of an author that our colleagues in Opinion have sworn to protect with anonymity?"

On its podcast "The Daily", Dao said he was approached by someone he trusted about publishing the article. "It contained some news - namely, that there has been talk inside the administration about invoking the 25th Amendment", Pritchard told CNN. "That is why many Trump appointees have vowed to do what we can to preserve our democratic institutions while thwarting Mr. Trump's more misguided impulses until he is out of office".

This morning, Press Secretary Sarah Sanders put a bit of a fork in it, saying that any inquiries about the matter should go to the New York Times from now on. "If the GUTLESS anonymous person does indeed exist, the Times must, for National Security purposes, turn him/her over to government at once!" "Anonymous, meaning gutless, a gutless editorial - we're doing a great job", he said.
