The iconic singer, who died earlier this month of pancreatic cancer at 76, received almost every major award one could receive during her lifetime.

Aretha Franklin's funeral is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with a processional.

The lineup of performers will include Stevie Wonder and Jennifer Hudson, who both sang at Michael Jackson's funeral in 2009, along with Chaka Khan, Ariana Grande, Faith Hill, Ronald Isley, Yolanda Adams, Jennifer Holliday, Fantasia, a number of gospel singers and Franklin's son Edward. He said they "talked all the time", the last just a couple weeks before she became too ill to speak.

Her six-hour, invitation-only funeral is taking place later in the Detroit church where the funeral for civil rights leader Rosa Parks was held in 2005. "I think it's going to be a very jubilant experience".

However, he signaled that he could restart them if he wanted to, promising that they would "be far bigger than ever before ". There is "no reason at this time" to spend large amounts of money on the joint U.S.

For Thursday's viewing at New Bethel Baptist Church, Franklin laid in repose in a lacy, rose gold gown by St. John's, styled with a pair of gold Christian Louboutin heels, while her gospel music played in the background.

Although the funeral itself it not open to the public, the program will be broadcast on TV and streamed live online, including on The Washington Post's website. A pink Cadillac, as referenced in her song, "Freeway of Love", was on display outside the museum in tribute. She will be buried in Woodland Cemetery alongside her father and siblings.

"I think she's wonderful and I know that the spirit of God that's in her is what brought all of us here". Yet there's no denying the star-power attending the Queen of Soul's final send-off.
