Brooklyn Nail Salon Workers Attack Woman With Broom

Viral Video Shows Brooklyn Nail Salon Workers Hitting Woman With A Broom

The brawl broke out at New Red Apple Nail salon and witness Mercy Maduka recorded and uploaded the video to Facebook.

An activist who protested over the weekend claimed the liquid thrown was acetone, the primary ingredient in nail polish remover, and that the altercation began because a woman at the salon with her two grandchildren did not want to pay for a poorly done eyebrow treatment.

Police arrived at the scene later, arresting one of the salon workers and one of the customers.

The woman who initially posted video of the incident also said a patron refused to pay the salon because she felt the employee did not do a good job, prompting the fight. "She went to the owner, she addressed the owner, says, 'Michael look at my eyebrows.' He said, 'I'll fix it for you.' She said, 'You can't fix it, call the cops, '" she said.

"Share this cause the cops chose to arrest the black people but not the Chinese people who ganged up on them". Salon employee Huiyue Zheng, 32, was charged with assault and weapon possession, and customer Christina Thomas was booked on misdemeanor assault and other charges. She also expressed her anger that the salon staffers were "hitting [the women] like animals".

And protesters had picketed outside the nail salon, accusing the Asian-owned business of disrespecting residents of the predominantly black neighborhood.
