Articles of impeachment filed against Rod Rosenstein

Republican lawmakers introduce impeachment resolution against Deputy AG Rosenstein

The impeachment resolution was formally introduced after a meeting Wednesday between senior Justice Department officials and Goodlatte, Gowdy, Meadows and Jordan, which Rosenstein did not attend. The impeachment effort is led by North Carolina Rep. Mark Meadows, who talks to Trump frequently and often defends him to his colleagues.

The five articles charge Rosenstein of "high crimes and misdemeanours" for failing to produce information to the committees, even though the department has already provided lawmakers with more than 800,000 documents, and of signing off on what some Republicans say was improper surveillance of a Trump adviser.

Also in April, Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), who oversees the House Intelligence Committee, threatened to impeach both Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray.

House Speaker Paul Ryan has not signed on to the measure nor has he publicly commented on the effort.

House Rules Committee ultimately approved a nonbinding resolution demanding "full" Justice Department compliance with subpoenas issued for documents and information related to the Clinton email and Trump-Russia investigation.

Democrats have accused Republicans of trying to discredit the Justice Department, and, by extension, the special counsel's probe into Russian interference in the 2016 USA election.

Turkey: Ex-footballer, lawmaker supports Mesut Ozil
Mr Hoeness, we will not waste any more time or energy talking about a subject clearly you know nothing about. In this case, the stats are clear. "I think his time to play in the national team is over".

Today, Thursday, the two introduced articles of impeachment.

Given the shaky lines in this impeachment move and the much starker ones between some Republicans' actions and Trump's desire to undermine the Russian Federation investigation, it seems likely that house Republicans just made their boldest move yet to impede or end the Russian Federation investigation.

They're angry that Rosenstein signed an application to continue surveillance on a onetime Trump campaign aide, Carter Page, whom the Federal Bureau of Investigation believed was a Russian agent. It's most likely that the whole gesture is just part of an effort to ratchet up the pressure on Rosenstein and DoJ to play along with their conspiracy theories, or perhaps to undermine Mueller by discrediting Rosenstein.

"We're exhausted of the Justice Department giving us the finger and not giving us the information we're entitled to to do our constitutional duty", Jordan said on Fox News Wednesday night. "Enough is enough. It's time to hold Mr Rosenstein accountable for blocking Congress's constitutional oversight role".

"We've caught the Department of Justice hiding information, redacting information that they should not have redacted", Jordan charged, adding that Rosenstein had attempted to intimidate House staffers with subpoenas.
