New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo Shores Up State Protections for Abortion Rights

LOVETT With Trump set to nominate Supreme Court choice Cuomo will rally voters in state Senate GOP districts on abortion issue

Almost three weeks after the state legislature dispersed after doing the bare minimum of the people's business, and just hours before President Donald Trump announces his choice to fill yet another vacancy on the Supreme Court, Governor Andrew Cuomo told Republicans in the State Senate they should come back to Albany and pass legislation that would shore up a woman's right to have an abortion in NY.

According to a Democratic pollster, Millennials do not know what Roe v. Wade is about, or when abortion was legalized, with many believing it happened after the American Revolution, almost 200 years before it was decided. Both have praised Kavanaugh since Trump's selection was made this week. The group's executive vice president, Leonard Leo, is also a board member of the anti-abortion group Students for Life of America.

In another case, Kavanaugh argued in favor of delaying an abortion for an undocumented teen.

But this doesn't mean that abortion rights are totally secure in the state of Colorado - only that they'd be secure immediately following the overturning of Roe. He sided very explicitly with employers who refuse to cover contraception. Neighboring Utah, by contrast, has a state law that recognizes the legal personhood of a fetus and expresses the legislature's intent "to protect and guarantee to unborn children their inherent and inalienable right to life".

These state laws are part of an insidious strategy for ending abortion that's been in the works for years.

The former Planned Parenthood CEO and avid promoter of abortion-she is even quite pleased to have had one herself-is apparently terrified by the prospect of Judge Kavanaugh being confirmed a Supreme Court justice.

Novak Djokovic edges ahead in Wimbledon clash with Rafael Nadal
The first three sets all went to tie-breaks, with Anderson winning the first 8-6, before Isner took the next two by 7-5 and 11-9. At the end of the day, I've put myself into the finals of Wimbledon , which is half of a dream come true.

His credentials certainly bode well for pregnancy help organizations, which-just two days before Kennedy announced his retirement-won big in NIFLA v. Becerra, a decision which overturned California's onerous Reproductive FACT Act for violating their First Amendment free speech rights.

To Godsey's point, this week a New York Times story profiled the hard experiences of women who procured abortions from around the world, even in countries where the practice is largely prohibited.

The known states to have implemented such "trigger" laws are Louisiana, Mississippi, North Dakota, and South Dakota, with another dozen or so states having pre-Roe abortion bans still on the books ready to re-enact if it is federally overturned. He previously served on the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for Washington, D.C. His record includes enforcing restrictions on abortion and protecting religious liberty. The suit alleges that the law's individual mandate, which required most Americans to get coverage, was crucial to the viability of the health care law.

The statement caused much head-scratching among conservatives, for a number of reasons, not the least being ... how does one sue the Supreme Court? I want to get it done before the Supreme Court does that because I don't want any gaps in a woman's right to protection.

While Democrats don't likely have the votes to stop the nomination, they're all but guaranteed to do what they can to delay Kavanaugh's confirmation.
