France look to continue winning run against Denmark

After topping Group C thanks to a boring draw, France are on track to face Argentina in the first knockout round if Lionel Messi can inspire his side to victory against Nigeria, who occupy second spot in Group D.

France and Denmark will face off this week, and the victor of this game will walk off the field owning the top spot in Group C. France now sits in first with 6 points with two wins, while Denmark is in second with 4 points due to one win and one draw.

Steve Mandanda starts in goal for France, who are already guaranteed a place in the last 16, while Pogba and Blaise Matuidi are left out with the pair a yellow card away from suspension.

Follow all the action with Sportsmail's TOM FARMERY ahead of kick-off at 3pm (BST). Can Kylian Mbappe - who became the first teenager to score for France at a World Cup with his strike against Peru - join this rarefied list, by netting against the Danes? Not even the late sub Mbappe could break the deadlock while his midfield team-mate Ngolo Kante was named man of the match. "I'm going to get better and I'm sure the level everyone expects, including myself, is going to come quickly", he told French TV channel TF1.

Mr Gayford, a 40-year-old television presenter, will be the child's primary carer once Ms Ardern returns to parliament. Ardern said the family was doing well - but, as is common with new parents the world over, were sleep-deprived.

"I know one point will be enough but that's not a good way to start the match", Norwegian Hareide said.

If Denmark are awarded a penalty in this match, it will be the first time since Group C in 1998 that all four teams have had a penalty in a single World Cup group - that group also contained France and Denmark.

New-look formations created no serious chances as France's Antoine Griezmann and Denmark playmaker Christian Eriksen were unable to lift their team in front of a sell-out crowd of 78,011 which loudly voiced its dissent after the final whistle. Eriksen, 26 enjoys representing his country and has 23 goals in 80 appearances for Denmark. "They played well in the friendlies, but have not played well so far in the World Cup", he added.

All in all, I see France winning this game.
