The Late Late Show With James Corden airs on CBS at 12:37 a.m. ET.

"Carpool Karaoke" hit a high note on Thursday night when Paul McCartney joined James Corden for a ride.

While the pair drove through the streets of McCartney's hometown of Liverpool, they belted out beloved Beatles songs before the segment got unprecedentedly deep and emotional.

The video wraps up with a surprise for local pub patrons, who are treated to a mini McCartney concert ending with a rousing "Hey Jude" singalong. "My dad would be in there (the next room) watching telly, we'd be in here, and we'd just written She Loves You, which was a big Beatles hit".

"During the brilliant, extended sketch, McCartney (with Corden) sang the Beatles songs "Drive My Car", Penny Lane" and "Let it Be".

After India, now European Union slaps additional tariffs on the US
All told, the $450 billion in potential tariffs would cover almost 90 percent of goods China sends to the United States. The new duties have been imposed as tensions over trade continued to grow between the U.S. and China.

"Your music is so full of positivity and joy and a message of love and togetherness", Corden said to McCartney.

The singer revealed that the band thought their music would only last 10 years and expressed his shock at its continued endurance.

He also tells the story about how his mom came to him in a dream after she died to say that things would be alright, and that's how the song Let It Be came about. This week, however, the British comedian is airing his show from London, and he recruited a very special passenger for what Today calls the "most emotional yet" of all singalong sessions. "I didn't see that one coming around the corner", he said as he wiped tears from his eyes.

During the film, the pair also visit one of Sir Paul's childhood homes, go to Penny Lane, and pop into a pub for an impromptu performance. "And I remember them playing me that".
