Unlimited & More is $70 per line. Among the networks available at launch are AMC, CNN, Discovery and TBS. Instead of getting the full, bloated DirecTV Now lineup, Watch TV has a much slimmer choice of channels that's partly built around AT&T's recent acquisition of Time Warner.
The service can be accessed via a new Watch TV app, or, as AT&T said in a statement, "on select browsers", and will initially be offered as a free service option with two new AT&T mobile phone plans: AT&T Unlimited & More and AT&T Unlimited & More Premium, which will launch next week.
The two new plans will go live next week.
And in case you're wondering: AT&T is still committed to launching WatchTV as a $15 stand-alone service, whether or not you're a subscriber to one of its existing deals.
Both of AT&T's new plans will be available starting next week. Premium services include HBO, Cinemax, SHOWTIME or STARZ as well as music streaming services like Amazon Music Unlimited and Pandora Premium.
Major fire ravages Glasgow's world-renowned School of Art
The school's alumni include recent Turner Prize winners Simon Starling (2005), Richard Wright (2009) and Martin Boyce (2011). More than 120 employees of firefighting and rescue service of Scotland trying to extinguish the Glasgow School of art .
WatchTV is what's known as a skinny bundle, stripping out the local networks and sports channels for more entertainment-focused options.
Pricing of the new plans hasn't been revealed, but AT&T's current unlimited plans, "Unlimited Plus Enhanced" and "Unlimited Choice Enhanced", cost $80 and $65 per month, respectively, for a single line. The merger was held up in court for months after the Justice Department tried to block it, claiming that the combination would harm competition and raise prices for consumers. WatchTV will also be sold as a standalone service for $15 per month, with details on that option to be released later.
Unlimited & More Premium costs $80 a month, with four lines available for $190.
AT&T's new plans replace its previous plans, though customers can remain on the plan they now have. It's not clear if that would replace the free HBO "for life" that AT&T was running on their old plans, but I'm sure that will be clarified soon. AT&T wants to use products like WatchTV to compete with digital newcomers for younger viewers who don't want to pay for beefy cable subscriptions.
