Canadian Senate approves marijuana legalisation bill

California Bill Would Protect Cannabis Consumer Data From Misuse by Dispensaries

The state is moving toward legalizing the drug under Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy, who while on the campaign trail promised to authorize recreational cannabis, but the Legislature has not moved on the issue beyond hearings and introducing legislation.

The Senate voted 56-30 on third reading of Bill C-45, which would lift Canada's 95-year-old prohibition on the recreational use of marijuana.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has committed to making marijuana legal by this summer.

"The legislation to legalize marijuana for adult recreational use would eliminate the draconian laws and penalties now in place and improve social justice issues in urban areas", Scutari said. Tony Dean, an independent who sponsored the bill in the Senate. According to the consumption data, it is estimated that it can have a market of $5.7 billion.

Kevin Sabet, the founder of New Jersey Responsible Approaches to Marijuana Policy, which opposes legalization, said the "perceived" benefits of permitting recreational use would be outweighed by the negative consequences. Processing and selling marijuana for non-medical purposes is still illegal everywhere in Canada.

But about a dozen are significant, including one to allow provinces to prohibit home cultivation of cannabis if they choose, rather than accept the four marijuana plants per dwelling allowed under the bill.

Even though the Cavaliers were much better than the Pacers, I still trashed-talked with my friends in hope of a Pacers win. Kevin Love's Cleveland Cavaliers career hasn't always been rosy, but he doesn't want it to end just yet.

Trudeau insisted that creating a regulated market would take it out of the hands of crime groups and "better protect communities and children".

Despite the federal government's efforts to make the July 1 target to pass the Cannabis Act, new reports say that the bill will need to be delayed to ensure that provinces and territories have the capacity to get the products in their shops. In the US, many cannabis companies must conduct their operations with cash because banks worry the federal government will target them as drug traffickers. Lawmakers are working on a bill that would create a state charter bank for the industry. "In Canada, you see tobacco, alcohol, pharmaceutical companies, all these mainstream industries interested in getting involved". "It has caused far more problems than it has solved, and governments would be wise to follow Canada's example by revisiting their marijuana policies and exploring alternatives".

That's bad news to Kevin Sabet, who runs the US -based anti-legalization group Smart Approaches to Marijuana.

"That should be us", he said of the United States. "There are considerable concerns with how Canada is normalizing marijuana".

Canada is one step closer to launching sales of legal marijuana after the country's appointed Senate approved a legalization plan on Thursday. In California, which launched legal sales January 1, some prosecutors wiped away those records, and prosecutors in Seattle seek to do the same.

When asked about the measure, Trump told reporters in Washington that "we're looking at it".
