Roseanne: 'I Begged Them Not To Cancel The Show'

Roseanne’ Canceled by ABC After Roseanne Barr’s ‘Repugnant’ Comments Network President SaysMore

CEO Bob Iger, keeping up a line of criticism he's lodged since subsidiary ABC cancelled Roseanne Barr's show and apologized to a former Barack Obama adviser for a racist comment the actress made about her.

A second season of Roseanne Barr's revived sitcom was canned in the wake of a tweet she made about former President Obama's senior advisor Valerie Jarrett.

Barr has gone on a Twitter barrage following the show's cancellation, apologizing to Jarrett and, in a series of tweets, suggesting that her racist comment about Jarrett was the result of taking the prescription sleep drug Ambien.

Barr, whose eponymous ABC sitcom was canceled in the wake of the controversial post, claimed she was "Ambien tweeting" when she wrote the racially charged tweet, which she ultimately called "indefensible". "I feel devastated, not for the end of the Roseanne show, but for all those who poured their hearts and souls into our jobs, and the audience that welcomed us into their homes", Fishman wrote. I said: I thought she was white, she looks like my family!

Some have defended Barr by suggesting that Bill Maher should be fired for comparing Donald Trump to an orangutan, Fox News reported. He said the original tweet "makes alot (sic) more sense then most things".

Statement by the Prime Minister of Canada on World Environment Day
Are you with me to try every bit to eliminate all single use plastic from our world? "Refuse what you can't re-use". Leones said this should serve as a "wake up call" for the Philippines to reduce its plastic consumption.

"Yes. Her tweet was awful, But there is a swift and blatant double standard at play".

Yet people have tried to defend Barr by putting ABC's cancellation in liberal-conservative terms. He agreed with ABC's decision while lamenting the demise of a show that depicted a world he recognized as his own."It dealt with everyday people, everyday situations", says Mr. Atkinson, a retired factory worker.

Jarrett spoke about the tweets directed at her by Roseanne Barr during an appearance on an MSNBC town hall on Tuesday. She has since returned online and posted more tweets and retweets, including re-posting fans' defence of her.

"Guys I did something unforgiveable [sic] so do not defend me". ABC canceled the show hours later on Tuesday. I'd worked doing publicity4 them 4free for weeks, traveling, thru bronchitis.

It was something rare in today's United States entertainment: a depiction of an extended working class family, including supporters of President Trump.
