Jared Leto to Star in and Produce His Own Joker Standalone Movie

Jared Leto The Joker Suicide Squad

One of the - many - overwhelming criticisms of the movie was Leto's lacklustre Joker, which, though little more than a glorified cameo, didn't quite measure up to the freaky tales from the movie's set.

The studio announced last fall that it was developing a Joker origin tale with Hangover director Todd Phillips. Other films on DC's upcoming slate include a Harley Quinn spinoff, Suicide Squad 2, Shazam!, Wonder Woman 2 and Aquaman, which is scheduled for release in November.

A new standalone Joker film starring Jared Leto is coming to cinema screens, and it has been revealed that the actor/singer has also signed on as producer.

Now it seems, the Joker - played most recently by Jared Leto in Suicide Squad - may get a movie all about his not-so-hysterical violent hijinks. And the studio said previously that Joaquin Phoenix was at the front of the line to portray Joker in another origin-story-movie which will take place outside of the DC universe.

White House confirms Kim Kardashian West is visiting to discuss clemency case
Kardashian West Wednesday night thanked the president for his time and reiterated she hopes he will grant clemency to Johnson. She was sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole and has been in prison for 21 years.

However, without a writer on board at this time, it is unclear when the flick would begin shooting, or whether it would be shot before the Suicide Squad sequel, which is expected to go into production sometime in 2019. But one thing is for certain: two Joker movies are now being lined up. And given how not everyone was able to stomach the little that they did see of Leto's Joker makes it even more confusing.

The actor is set to star in the Warner Bros.

It's being reported that Jared Leto is getting a solo Joker movie of his own as Warner Bros wants to expand on his version of the character. You can read the original report over at Variety.
