Clutching his toys, including a large collection of Lego, the burly man-child honked and waved to reporters Friday morning as he pulled out of his parents' upstate NY home.

Michael Rotondo became famous when it was learned that his parents had to sue him in order to get him to move out of their Camillus, New York, home.

Michael Rotondo, 30, prepares to leave his parents' house in Camillus, N.Y., Friday, June 1, 2018. The Post-Standard of Syracuse reports that Rotondo left 2 ½ hours before the noon deadline set by a judge last week.

Michael Rotondo loaded up a pickup truck with several garbage bags and moved out.

Rotondo said on Friday that he called the police after his father refused to let him back into the house to retrieve Lego from the basement that belonged to his eight-year-old son.

In other notes, they offered $1,100 to help their son find a new place to live and said they'd help fix his broken-down vehicle, which was parked on their property.

In a letter dated February 18, his parents offered him cash and advice on how to navigate being out of their home. Rotondo did not take the threat seriously and his parents brought him to court. The Legos were found after police arrived. "I don't have to guess what's behind Door No. 1".

He also told reporters he had said goodbye to his parents "more or less", and maintained that he would not have a relationship with his parents, before jumping in the Volkswagen and driving off.

He gave an extensive interview to the Daily Mail about his 8-year-old son, claiming his problems with his parents stem from his attempts to regain custody rights to the boy.

Rotondo planned to spend the next week at an Airbnb in Syracuse. Rotondo says he spent the weekend getting ready to move by going to Lowe's to buy boxes for packing. Asked if that marks a dramatic change in his thinking, given his recent hard-fought court battle, Rotondo answered succinctly.
