Jason Chaffetz: "I Think the Attorney General Should Step Down"

Trey Gowdy reveals stunning information about Trump spying accusations

Gowdy, who plans to retire from Congress at the end of the current term, did express support for Trump's "frustration" with Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who recused himself in March 2017 from the Russian Federation probe based on a possible conflict of interest.

But Trump vented his ire anew in a Twitter remark, citing a television interview comment from Republican Congressman Trey Gowdy that Sessions, a former Alabama senator and early Trump political supporter, had not told Trump before he was named to the country's top legal position that he would remove himself from control of the Russian Federation investigation.

A political firestorm would erupt if Trump fired Sessions or Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who is supervising the Russian Federation probe, in an effort to remove or rein in Mueller. The 45th POTUS said in a tweet that there are many good lawyers in the country and he could have made a better choice.

After The New York Times reported that Trump pressured Sessions to reverse his recusal from overseeing the Russian Federation probe in March 2017, the USA president confirmed his unhappiness over that decision in a tweet. "The folks who have not seen the information, I don't know what informs their perspective".

Various sources, according to Garrett, say Sessions has never relented and never second-guessed his decision to recuse, and he has resisted Mr. Trump's various pressure tactics. At times, the departing president took the long view, at other points, he flashed anger.

Sanders also pointed out that the former Federal Bureau of Investigation deputy director Andrew McCabe was sacked "for misconduct", though there is no indication his firing was related to the FBI's use of a confidential source during the campaign.

Cavaliers drop Game 1 in OT to Warriors
Of course, Game 1 was a classic, perhaps throwing salt on the theory people are bored with these two teams playing each other. And then tonight in the finals on the biggest stage, when our team played well, played our ass off, man, it ain't right.

Sessions' recusal gave way to the appointment of Mueller by Rosenstein.

Gowdy explained that he, "never heard the term "spy" used", in his investigation and did not see evidence of that.

The Times reports that Trump "berated" the attorney general and urged him to remain in control of the investigation.

Giuliani, President Trump's attorney, said he will not let Trump sit down for an interview with Special Counsel Robert Mueller - who is investigating Russian meddling in the USA election - without those documents being provided to Trump's legal team.

Trump's complaints about Sessions have at times won sympathy from some friends who believe Sessions' recusal was too broad and ill-timed and undercut the positive attention from a State of the Union address the president had recently delivered.

"And I wish I did!" What he inherited from the FBI under Comey was a counterintelligence investigation, focused on the work of Russia's spy services and their outreach to Americans. And I would have sat down with the president and asked him, OK, do you have confidence in me? The South Carolina congressman responded by distancing himself from Trump.
