Evangelist wants $54 million jet: ‘Jesus wouldn’t be riding a donkey’

Jesse Duplantis the Destrehan-based prosperity gospel televangelist is shown in a still image from a video on his ministry's website

"I really believe that preachers ought to. have every available outlet to get this Gospel preached to the world".

If Jesus was physically on Earth today, "he wouldn't be riding a donkey", the televangelist said.

It's probably not surprising to learn that Duplantis preaches prosperity gospel, which says God shows favor by rewarding the faithful with earthly riches. A 2017 write-up on SherpaReport.com, a website focused on private aviation, said the list price for a new Falcon 7X was $54 million.

According to the Jesse Duplantis Facebook page, Duplantis is scheduled to travel to New York, Tennessee, Michigan, Washington, Montana, California, and Alberta over the next month, with trips back to Louisiana in between.

"And I said, 'What do you mean?'"

Duplantis explained that God told him he didn't have to pay for it, he had to believe for it. "Now people say, 'My Lord, can't you go with this one?' Yes, but I can't go with one stop".

They were asked to leave and an employee called police, which led to their arrest , prompting protests and accusations of racism. Employees will gather in small groups to discuss their personal experiences and watch a short film about racial bias.

"I like all people to know exactly what I'm doing in this ministry; we don't hide nothing whatsoever at all".

Another picture which appeared in the video showed the preacher standing with the three aircraft, above the caption: "It's not about possessions, it's about priorities". "I can't live long enough to travel by auto or by ship or by train, but I can do it by an aeroplane".

It's not the first time Duplantis has been public about his desire for private jets, according to USA Today. "It's gonna reach people. If I can do it in one stop, I can fly it for a lot cheaper, because I have my own fuel farm, and that's what's a blessing of the Lord". But the trouble is, he's "just been burning them up for the Lord Jesus Christ".

In it, he explains that his current jet - the third his ministry has owned - no longer serves his needs. "We can talk to God", Copeland said at the time.

The televangalist is hoping his followers will donate $54 million to let him buy a private jet.

"So pray about becoming a partner toward it, if you like to and if you don't, you don't have to, but I wish you would", he said. You can't, you can't manage that today. "You get in a long tube with a bunch of demons, and it's deadly".
