Andrew Lincoln to leave 'The Walking Dead' during upcoming Season 9

ANDREW LINCOLN Leaving THE WALKING DEAD - Report

Whether or not The Walking Dead can continue without its main star - the heart of the show for so long - Rick Grimes is another matter.

It's not known what fate will befall Lincoln's character, whether he'll be killed off in customarily gruesome fashion, or head off into the distance. AMC has not commented whether or not season 9 will be the final season with the news of Lincoln and Cohen's possible departure.

Whatever the case, the show is in need of a shake-up.

Additionally, Lincoln's on-screen son, Chandler Rigg's Carl, was killed off the show late previous year.

After the departure of Chandler Riggs (Carl "CORALL" Grimes) last season, Lincoln's Rick is one of the last Season 1 characters still on the show. Co-star Norman Reedus is now negotiating a new deal that will reportedly pay him around $20 million per season to become the new face of the series.

Drugmaker to Roseanne Barr: Racism Not Among Ambien’s Side Effects
On the Tuesday Fox News' segment, commentator Jessica Tarlov blasted Barr's derogatory tweets and said they're clearly "racist". She also apologized to everyone who had lost their jobs on the show due to her "stupid tweet".

Apparently, Cohan is only returning for six episodes as well, since she's signed on to ABC pilot Whiskey Cavalier. It remains to be seen if Lincoln's exit will win back viewers who left during the Rick vs. Negan storyline or if this will only make fans angrier.

With the absence of both Maggie and Rick, Daryl would be most likely to take centre-stage in The Walking Dead.

This news comes as a big surprise considering Rick is still alive in the Robert Kirkman comics.

The ninth season of The Walking Dead is due to premiere in the USA in October. Reedus, who has a good relationship with AMC, also has another television series on the network called 'Ride with Norman Reedus'. Let him find love, peace, anything, because a brutal death would be too much for even this show.

While there's no specific information on how Lincoln's character will be written off the series, it is expected to be revealed before the season 9 finale.
