PUBG Corp is suing Fortnite creator Epic Games over alleged copyright infringement

Fortnite vs PUBG: game giants ready for battle royale in court

The game also sees up to 100 players land on an island, search for weapons and kill one another until one player is left standing.

Fortnite has been a massive hit for publisher Epic, as the free-to-play title has taken over Twitch (with a little help from Drake and Thanos) and become insanely popular.

While numerous games now include a Battle Royale mode, the two biggest names in the genre remain PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and Fortnite Battle Royale. This may refer to perceived similarities in the game's user interface and they could even be trying to push that the game mode has too many direct similarities, though would struggle to argue this in court when there is an terrible lot of prior material relating to Battle Royale, from previous games to films and beyond.

However, analysts suggest the popularity of PUBG has waned since January, while Fortnite continues to attract more players. A spokesperson for PUBG Corp said the company filed the suit in order to "protect its copyright". This lines up with the statement that a PUBG Corp executive made back in September 2017, expressing concern that "Fortnite may be replicating the experience for which PUBG is known".

Cavs coach Tyronn Lue: LeBron James will be great in Game 6
I'll do the same all day [Saturday] from before we leave to go to Boston, and then once we get into Boston I'll do that as well. A 25-point quarter isn't huge, but in what was a very slow-paced game (89 possessions for each team ), it was efficient.

Another week, another set of challenges that Epic Games has put up to challenge players to accomplish various objectives in Fortnite.

Behind the scenes, the two companies have an existing business relationship as PUBG is built on the Unreal gaming engine, which was developed by Epic Games.

Epic are now in the process of bringing Fortnite to Korea.

It's not the first infringement suit PUGB Corporation has filed; last month it sued NetEase over its mobile apps Rules of Survival and Knives Out in California. It's also now the most-watched game on Twitch and YouTube.
