Mike Budenholzer reaches agreement to become Bucks head coach

Mike Budenholzer has reached an agreement to become the Milwaukee Bucks coach, league sources tell ESPN.

He will take over for Joe Prunty, who served as the Bucks interim head coach at the end of the season.

Budenholzer also spent 17 seasons as an assistant under famed Spurs' head coach Gregg Popovich. However, they seemingly have taken a step forward on Wednesday.

The Bucks wanted to have the two players - especially Antetokounmpo, the franchise star - to have a sense of the prospective next Bucks coach and encouraged the players to sit-down with Milwaukee's preferred candidate before the organization extended a formal offer, league sources said. Among the other candidates were another Spurs assistant, Becky Hammon, and Joe Prunty, who took over the Bucks as an interim coach when Jason Kidd was sacked in January. Under Budenholzer, the Hawks were known for being one of the most consistent teams in the league before the organization chose to bottom out and play for the lottery last season.

If you have any thoughts about the podcast, Budenholzer's appointment, or anything else, let us hear them! And according to David Aldridge of NBA.com, Budenholzer isn't going to be the only fresh face with a suit on for the Bucks.

Budenholzer began his National Basketball Association coaching career with the San Antonio Spurs as an assistant under Gregg Popovich.

Budenholzer was the 2015 NBA Coach of the Year after the Hawks earned the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference with a 60-22 record.

Budenholzer also comes to the Bucks with some hardware to prove his track record.
