New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram suspended four games

Mark Ingram has been suspended for violating the NFL drug policy

Ingram, who set career highs by rushing for 1,124 yards and 12 touchdowns last season, will not be eligible to rejoin the team's active roster until October 1. The four-game suspension is for first-time offenders in the league.

Ingram will still be permitted to participate in offseason workouts, training camp and the preseason, but he will not be able to practice or play in those first four games. The suspension could prove even more costly if he was angling for a lucrative contract extension before the season kicked off. He also earned his second Pro Bowl bid last season after rushing for career-highs with 1,124 yards and 12 touchdowns.

New Orleans does have a capable replacement in the electrifying Alvin Kamara, who was named the NFL Rookie of the Year last season. As Fantasy Guru's Graham Barfield points out, Kamara out-snapped Ingram over the Saints' final eight games last season. However, it was expected to remain a 1A/1B situation after that worked out so well previous year for the NFC South champions.

Brighton beats Man United 1-0 to secure EPL safety
His passes were too often square rather than forwards and incisive, and his final ball lacked precision when it truly counted. Just before the hour mark, Izquierdo got to the byline and Pascal Gross , Brighton's standout player this season, headed in.

The New Orleans Saints' loss has become the Atlanta Falcons' gain. The Saints also have Trey Edmunds, Jonathan Williams and Daniel Lasco in the backfield to go along with former Louisiana Tech running back Boston Scott, who was selected in the sixth round of this year's draft.

Ingram, the 2009 Heisman Trophy victor from Alabama, has been terrific in the pros, averaging 1,359 total yards and nine touchdowns over the last four seasons (2014-17). The Week 2 trip to New Orleans comes when the host Saints will be without starting running back Mark Ingram.
